Dollarcity

When Dollarcity entered the Mexican market, the challenge went far beyond opening a store. The brand needed to quickly build awareness, credibility, and operational capacity in one of the most competitive retail markets in Latin America. The opening of its first store in Guadalajara marked the beginning of an ambitious expansion strategy. From day one, the challenge was twofold: introduce Dollarcity to a new market while simultaneously recruiting the talent required to operate multiple stores as the network grew.

To support this expansion, We Communicate developed an integrated communication strategy based on a simple principle: physical expansion must be supported by communication expansion. The strategy combined several high-impact tactics designed to reach potential employees where they live, move, and consume media. Tactical out-of-home placements near store locations created strong local visibility, while strategic flyer distribution generated immediate awareness within surrounding neighborhoods. At the same time, geo-targeted digital campaigns allowed the brand to connect with job seekers based on location, interests, and behavioral signals.

Each store opening was approached as a micro-market, allowing the campaigns to adapt to local dynamics and hiring needs in real time. This combination of territorial media and digital targeting ensured that potential candidates encountered the brand in their daily commute, within their communities, and across their digital environments.

The result was a synchronized recruitment and brand-building strategy that supported Dollarcity’s rapid expansion across Mexico.

Localized media activations helped accelerate recruitment cycles by reaching potential candidates directly within each store’s area of influence.

Consistent visibility across outdoor and digital channels positioned Dollarcity as a credible and attractive employer in the communities where the brand began operating.

More than a recruitment campaign, this initiative became a market entry model designed to support long-term retail expansion.
